GN Mud Treating Systems for Eastern United States Customers

GN Solids Control designs and manufactures thousands of mud treating systems for global customers. Several weeks ago, GN Solids Control also delivered one whole set dewatering systems for construction slurry treating.
GN Solids Control has many experienced engineers who have been working on solids control and waste management area for many years. This dewatering unit will be used by one Eastern United States construction company, it will be used to treat those hydro-vac waste collected from different sites.

1. Coarse shale shaker
GN coarse shaker is mainly used to separate out large rocks and most of the solids. After treated slurry will be collect in the bottom shaker tank and can be transferred to the Hi-G force shaker for the second phase treating.
2. Hi-G Force Shaker
GN Hi-G force shaker is mainly used to treat water based mud, as most the slurry this customer recycled is water base mud. So Hi-G shake is perfectly well to use here.
3. Cyclones

Here GN Solids Control uses some 4 inch desilter cyclones to treat the slurry from GN Hi-G shaker. All those cyclones are fixed on the top of one shale shaker. In order to have a better treating performance, GN coarse shake, GN Hi-G Force Shaker and GN Cyclones are all fixed with polyurethane shaker screens (also called opening mesh screens).
4. Decanter Centrifuge
GN centrifuge is one of the most popular separating equipment which is largely used in solids and liquid separation. GN centrifuges will eliminate all those solids larger than 2~5 microns.
5. Flocculent System
In order to have better separating performance, GN decanter centrifuges are equipped with one small flocculent system.

2. GN special designed gear handle unit is used to change the shakers pretty fast. Due to GN composite frame screens are very light compared to those metal frame ones, only one worker is totally enough to change the screens.
3. Heat treatment for the shaker, which can be used as drying shaker (G force up to 8.0G). Shaker deck is made of stainless steel material also embedded with GN patent rubber sealing.
4. Working angle (between -1 degree and +5 degree) can be changed easily by using the former mentioned gear unit.

2. GN Mud Cleaner
With 10 inch desander hydrocyclones and 4 inch desilter hydrocyclones mounted on the same size shale shaker, GN Mud Cleaner can separate out solids larger than 25 microns.
3. GN Mud Tank
GN shaker and mud cleaner is mounted on the trailer tank. The land transporting dimensions are all comply with the local vehicles standard.
4. GN Centrifugal Feeding Pump
2 sets of centrifugal pumps are used to feed GN mud cleaner: 1 set to feed the 10 inch cyclones and the other set to feed the 4 inch cyclones. There is also a third centrifugal pump which will be used to feed into the HDD drilling rigs.
Depend the drilling needs, one GN mud hopper will also be used in order to add drilling chemicals.

GN Solids Control just finished the designing of TDU (Thermal Desorption Unit). GN Solids Control engineers have been working on the researching of TDU since February, 2015.
GN newly developed TDU is mainly used to treat the oily slurry or oil cuttings: oil can be recycled from the slurry, solids are environmental friendly after treated, water can be used in the whole processing.
GN Solids Control is always trying to provide the best solids control and waste management equipment, GN Thermal Desorption Unit is trying to reduce the produced waste, recover valuable base oil as well as treat the solids that can be safely disposed.
GN TDU is working at the temperatures of 150°C to 800°C when treating different quality and quantity of waste slurry. GN Thermal Desorption Unit is a closed treating system. This whole treating system is a turnkey processing solution for oily slurry and production waste. gn tdu layout
As a mobile unit, GN TDU mainly includes the following products:
1. Screening Module: Large solids will be treated first by using the Screening Module.
2. Thermal Desorption Module: As the key components of the TDU, GN Thermal Desorption Module has a large material separation vessel which can be heated up by EU diesel burners.
3. Condensing Module: By using the condensing module, finer particles can be removed. Oil & water condensation module as well as NC gas treatment.
4. Liquid Treatment Module: This module will separate the oil from water by using the gravity difference.
5. Cooling Module: Provide cooling water for the TDU.
6. Discharge Module: The cool conveyor system is equipped with treated solids.
7. Control Room Module: Control room for all the TDU equipment.
8. Switch Room: Electrical control room and VFD’s switch room.
By using GN TDU, the slurry treating capacity is 3.5T/Hour to 5.0T/Hour. Oil recovery efficiency is 70%~80%. TPH on treated Solids is 0.3-1%.

GN Solids Control manufactures various mud tanks. Many customers in the world have been purchased from GN Solids Control.
Recently, GN Solids Control has been received many mud tanks inquiries, such as one inquiry from Canada, one of GN Solids Control customer would like to have one minimum (1) 500bbl mixing tank with 6×5 mud pump to circulate fluid, as well as (3-4) agitators to keep the solids in this tank suspended.
This Canada customer is interested in expanding operations, but we don’t typically treat fluids our operations are primarily deep well disposal.
GN Solids Control has provided many sets of mixing tanks. We manufacture hundreds of mud mixing tanks every year, from 100 bbl to 10,000 bbl. Here is one typical mud mixing system based on customers’ demands.

GN 30 inch Decanter Centrifuge for HDD Mud Control

GN shale shaker is mainly used to separate the solids larger than 100 microns, while desander fixed with 10 inch hydro cyclones are used to separated out solids larger than 50 microns, and the desilter fixed with 4 inch hydro cyclones are used separated out solids above 25 microns. The after treated mud can be reused and pump into the HDD rig for drilling. Before, there was several HDD drilling companies use decanter centrifuge as they thought solids smaller than 25 microns can be ignored. However, according to the recent surveys, it is these smaller size solids that much more harmful for the HDD drilling rig. Just take one example in Australia: one of GN Solids customers is only use GN shale shaker and GN desilter in the mud treating system. After we recommend to use on decanter centrifuge, they found the drilling efficiency has increased 20 ~30%. And the former push back problems of the HDD rig have never happened after the centrifuge is used.

GN Oily Sludge Treating System

In the past years, GN Solids Control has received many inquiries on the oily sludge treating systems. GN Solids has been providing various solids control and waste management for the oil and gas drilling cuttings treating, while as more and more companies pay attention to the environment protection, there are increasing demands on the oily sludge treating systems.
GN Solids Control just provided several sets oily sludge treating systems for Europe and Middle East customers. Those sludge treating systems are mainly customized to be used in the particular work site.v
In this oily sludge treating system, the main products are as including show:
1. Premixing and Heating Tank
As most of the cuttings have a large viscosity, one premixing an heating tank is pretty necessary. All the sludge will be heated in order to run smoothly.
2. Shaker Tank
Shaker is used as the first step separation equipment. All the large solids will be separated out by the shaker first. In order to keep the large solids fall off to the tank bottom, there are 2 mud agitators are on the shaker tanks.
3. Centrifuge Tank
GN centrifuge is the second phase treating equipment, finer solids will be treated from the slurry that treated by shaker.
4. 3-Phase Separation System
GN 3-phase separation system is used to separate out the finer solids, while the oil and water are further treated by oil and gas separator. Two separated oil tank and water tank will be used to collect oil and water.
5. Chemical Dosing Unit
GN Chemical Dosing Unit is used to mixing the chemicals before feeding into decanter centrifuge. Flocculent is used to gather finer solids, so decanter centrifuge can separate out those finer solids.
Level meters are fixed in the mud tanks in order to keep the mud from leaking. Hot sensors are also used to keep the screw pumps from rotating when there is no mud inside.
