GN Decanter Centrifuge and GN Cuttings Dryer

GN Solids Control has manufactured thousands of solids control equipment include decanter centrifuges. Now GN customers from over seventy countries are using GN centrifuges.
Today we looked through those former inquires we got from our customers, they are still pretty valuable to share with you. Here is one example:
1)For the GNLW363CG centrifuge, please have the 3 pulley system installed. Please let me know the rotational speed for high, medium and low when you can. I have the gear ratio recorded. We will take the centrifuges with the standard motors and control panels if they meet spec. item 2 to follow.


Recommend you to choose Speed: 1800/2500/3200 RPM.
2) For any motors we do order, 60Hz, USA standard voltages, ICE-Ex (d)(e)(i)(nA) .
We can use motors with 460V/60HZ and to meet IEC Ex and Explosion proof Mark is Exd IIB T4 which meets the oil gas industry for international standard. Please comment if it is acceptable by you? We can even have the UL Ex Motors, but for Control Panel if you need UL we’ll have to source from US or Canada.
Here are several questions and answers on cuttings dryer:
Air Knife design will need to be determined later. Please send us some photos and descriptions, we can put it in our Dryer. Some other customers also have given us some concepts.
1) Can you supply JUST the motor conforming to 60Hz, USA voltage, ICE-Ex (d)(e)(i)(nA) capable of variable speeds WITHOUT the electronic drive and control system for the GNCD930 and still meet customer’s delivery schedule?
It will be 60 Days for GNCD900 to be ready for shipment. While right now, GN Solids have the cuttings dryers stocking in Houston warehouse.
2) Can you supply motors conforming to 60Hz, USA voltages, ICE-Ex (d)(e)(i)(nA) capable of variable speeds WITHOUT the electronic drive and control system to the GNG30-75 and still meet delivery schedule? It will be 45 Days for manufacturing.

GN Trailer Mounted Dredge Dewatering System

GN Solids Control has been provided many dredge dewatering systems for global customers. Based on the move methods, GN dredge dewatering system is classified into the following 2 types: skid mounted treating system and trailer mounted treating system.
Just take example of one trailer mounted treating system provided to customer, the following shows questions that customers are interested:


1. Total power requirement at most likely and max load for determining power generator requirements.
GN Solids provides ‘GN Equipment Power List’. All the listed components are controlled by GN control boxes. You might need to prepare a distribution center and connect them to GN control boxes.
2. System dead load and axel load (ESAL).
’35ton 2axle LOW BED’, whole dead load can hold up to 35T, axel load is 21T.
3. Is it possible to get the transporting height of each trailer below 14 ft so we wouldn’t require to permit the transport of this system in Texas?
We can decrease the height below 14ft. As there is no separated compartment, so there’s no pump cavitation. #1 tank and #2 tank they are connected by overflow, as long as the #2 tank liquid discharged port higher than centrifugal pump inlet port, there will be no cavitation as long as #2 tank has fluid inside.
4. Does GN have any clients that use conveyor systems to move the dredge material away from the trailers, or do they just use bucket loaders to move it on the fly?
It depends, some of GN customers using screw conveyors while some of them use bucket loaders. Screw conveyor can be used to transport to a truck directly, while the bucket loaders can be replaced with another one and also move easily.
5. Max pump pressure and pressure system weak points.
Max pressure 0.5Mpa, there’s no pressure weak points as the whole system pressure is less than 1.0Mpa, actually they are not pressure pipe system.
6. Details on pressure safety system such as pop-off valves and other PSVs.
This system has on and off valves, centrifugal pump inlet and mud cleaner inlet both controlled by valves. There’re no pressure control components inside as this is not a pressure system.

GN Soil Washing Treating Unit

As a turn-key solids control system provider, GN Solids Control provides various whole treating units that can be widely used in various of industries. During the past half years, GN Solids Control have received more inquires on oil slurry or soil remediation treating. Based on the former experiences provided to thousands of customers, GN Solids Control is able to provide a customized turn-key system.
Today, we would like to share some info on the soil washing or soil remediation treating unit. GN Solids Control provides shake shakers as the first treating unit so large solids can be separated out. After treated by shale shaker:
1. Slurry Pump
The Slurry Pump should be over sized. Model GNSB4X3A-11J. It will feed the Decanter centrifuge.
2. 14 Inch Decanter
The 14 inch decanter will remove the small micron soil that wasn’t removed at the GN shale shaker in the first phase treatment. GN Solids Control provides whole centrifuge treating unit includes a stand, solids screw conveyor, centrifuge tank, etc. Model GNLW364D-VFD

3. Chemical Dosing Equipment
Chemical Dosing Equipment. Model GNDU-2000A. This will help centrifuge to separate out those finer solids. Usually, centrifuge can only separate out solids larger than 10 microns just by using mechanical separating method.
4. Inclined Plate Clarifier
GN Inclined Plate Clarifier is used to separate those solids after treated by centrifuge. Centrifuge treated slurry will run into the clarifier by gravity.


5. Oil Water Separator
An oil/ water separator will be used to separate oil and water. This will be added based on the how much oil contains in the final liquid.des oil water separator 1 des oil water separator
6. 9 Inch Decanter
9 Inch Decanter Model GNLW224D. Sludge from the bottom of the Inclined Plate Clarifier can be dewatered by using GN mini centrifuge. Running parameters can be adjusted based on the feeding sludge.
Some sets of soil remediation units have already been used in Middle East, Africa and North America.

GN Soil Remediation System

GN Solids Control is a solids and liquid separation system turn-key provider. This year, GN Solids Control has provided 3 sets of large soil remediation system. Basically, one GN Soil Remediation System is including the following components: 20170704 Oil Sludge Treatment 2
1. GN Feeding Hopper
A large feeding hopper will be used to catch the soil slurry first. GN Solids use steep side angle walls so that wet and sticky soil falls to the bottom of the hopper easily. Across the top of the hopper, a bar grate to keep large, oversize material from entering the hopper and plugging the hopper.
2. GN Screw conveyor
GN screw conveyor transports the soil from the bottom of the hopper to the Shale Shaker Screener. Screw conveyor should be the proper angle and length to empty the soil feed hopper and discharge on to the Shale Shaker Screener.
3. GN Shale Shaker
GN Shale Shaker will remove gravel and stones and oversize debris. Different size screens will be assembled on the shaker. High pressure water spray nozzles are fixed on the shaker deck in order to wash the soil through the screens. The Shale Shaker is positioned on top of a mixing tank. Usually, GN Hi-G force shaker GNZS594 will be used to treat the slurry. Vibration motors are using USA martin or Italy OLI. 20170704 Oil Sludge Treatment 3
4. GN Mixing Tank
The mixing tank should be approximately 7000 liters. It needs a robust, strong mixer. It needs steam coil piping in the interior of the tank to heat the soil slurry. Operating temperature is normally 70 C.
5. GN Slurry Pump
The Slurry Pump should be a centrifugal pump. It will transfer the soil slurry from the mix tank to the following treating equipment.

As it’s known to all, solids control and waste management equipment need to be explosion proof certificated in order to use in the oil and gas area considering the harmful air or dust in the drilling rig site.
According to ATEX Directive 99/92/EC or ATEX 137 Workplace Directive, it gives us the definition of different levels of dangerous drilling rig site environments. ATEX is classified into ATEX Zone 0, ATEX Zone 1 and ATEX Zone 2, the smaller no it has, the more dangerous it is. So ATEX Zone 0 is the most dangerous classifications which need to be pay great attention.
In many drilling rig sites or workplaces which may produce or contain explosive atmospheres, this is includes explosive air (gases, vapours and mists) and explosive dusts. In order to tell the difference of explosive dusts, ATEX is also classified into Zone 20, Zone 21 and Zone 22.
The explosive air is directly related to drilling rigs, oil & gas platforms as well as storage facilities. So usually when GN provides explosion proof standard solids control and waste management systems to drilling customers, we need to know what explosion proof standard suit for customers.

GN Decanter Centrifuges for Canada Customer

GN Solids Control has been manufactured thousands of decanter centrifuges since the very beginning. As the leading decanter centrifuge provider, GN Solids Control is only using top quality materials. By word of mouth, more and more customers are getting to know GN Solids Control.

1. GN 22inch Centrifuge
22 inch rotating bowl decanter centrifuge is the second largest one that GN Solids can manufacture. 30 inch centrifuge is also can be provided for larger volume treating.
GN 22 inch centrifuge is using duplex stainless steel 2205 (or stainless steel 2304). In order to have a good wear resistance, GN Solids Control is using tungsten carbide tiles and fixed them along the screw propeller. Solids discharge ports are also protected by tungsten carbide inserts or special ceramic.
On the two ends of the centrifuge, GN Solids Control is using genuine SKF bearing, which is easy to get in North America.
2. GN 14inch Centrifuge
14inch centrifuge is the most common used centrifuge for slurry separating. Treating volume is around 130GPM.
These 2 centrifuges will be used to treat the waste water or soiled slurry. GN Solids decanter centrifuges can also be used to treat oil and gas drilling waste, industrial water treating, hrdro-vac wastes etc.

GN Oil Slurry Treating Unit For USA customer

GN Solids Control just finished the setup of one whole oil slurry treating system for one USA customer several weeks before. This whole treating unit was delivered to Middle East as they had won a project to treat one large oil slurry pit for Chevron.
Now this GN Oil Slurry System was setup and ready for connecting with electricity and water pipes and heating pipes. GN Solids Control sent one Electrician and one Mechanical Engineer to guide customer to setup this oil slurry treating system. GN Solids Control is especially good at manufacturing customized solids control and waste management systems based on customers’ special demands. This whole oil slurry treating unit is designed and manufactured after discussed with our USA customer thoroughly. It’s especially used to treat large density and high viscosity oil slurry, such as refinery oil, raw oil storage in tank bottom: oil, water and solids can be separated out as a 3 phase treating system.

Here are the main treating components in this GN Oil Slurry Treating System:
1. Premix and Heat Tank
Oil slurry can be pumped to the premixing and heating tank with a GN vacuum pump. After treated, the original raw slurry is thinned and has a good running feature.
2. Shaker Tank
Shale shaker is used to eliminate all those large solids. GN Solids Control also manufactures its own shaker screens. Some other replacement screens for Derrick, Mi-Swaco, NOV etc can also be manufactured. 20170704 Oil Sludge Treatment 2
3. Centrifuge
Decanter centrifuge is one key treating equipment to separate those finer particles. GN Solids Control also provides flocculent system in order to separate out those very finer solids.
4. 3-Phase Treating Skid
This 3-pahse treating skid is composed by GN Slant Clarifier, GN Oil &Water Separator and GN Storage Tanks (water tank and oil tank).

GN Manufactures Various Mud Plants (B)

As discussed before, GN Solids Control is very professional to provide customized solutions for various mud plants. Depend on the stock volume of various mud, such as water base mud, oil base mud, synthetic base mud or completion drilling fluids, GN mud plants are divided into different stocking area, each area will be separated by wall.
So continue our last time conversation, 12 – 1000 BBL storage Tanks. All tank interiors and manifold lines must be coated to handle Calcium Chloride, Calcium Bromide and Zinc Bromide completion fluids.
Here are some other questions need to know when designing GN Mud Plant:
1. What’s the maximum dimension for the single tank? This depends on a vertical (base of tank could be as much as 20 feet or more) or horizontal tank (approximately 10 foot by 40 foot). Vertical tanks preferred unless otherwise advised.
2. What is the maximum space do you have for the Liquid Mud Plant? How big is the yard space we will be building the liquid mud plant upon? Minimum of 10 acres (approx 40,000m2) for the liquid mud plant and warehouse….sufficient space is available. No issues
3. What’s the solids control equipment you need on the MP? For example, shale shaker and high speed centrifuge to recycle and reclaim the used mud that is sent in for storage/resale……shale shaker dressed with 200 mesh screen (74 micron cut) / 4-inch cone desilter for micron cut 15 -20 / Centrifuge to remove particles down to 3 microns ( all three mounted in series}….MUD FROM SHAKER PIT FEEDS THE DESILTER, MUD FROM THE DESILTER PIT FEEDS THE CENTRIFUGE….to progressively remove smaller particles.
4. What type of the drilling mud & completion fluids will we be handling? Clear Brine Fluids, Diesel Oil Base Mud, Synthetic Oil Base Mud or Water Base Mud? Clear Brine Fluids (two cartridge filtration unit helpful…initial filtration), Water Base Mud, Diesel Oil Base Mud & Synthetic Oil Base Mud (prepared with Total Energy edc-99dw base oil).

GN Manufactures Various Mud Plants (A)

GN Solids Control has manufactured hundreds of mud tanks based on customers’ particular demands. GN Solids Control is especially good at providing turn-key solutions for customers. Although one hundred customers may have one hundred mud plants they want, today we would like to give you a rough idea on how the mud plants are composed.
So here are some main factors you should know, the first important thing you need to know is the total volume of the mud plant. This depends on the mud weights you will need to store for your customer(s) and storage for mud that is returned, base oil tank and pneumatic barite tanks. Mud Plant System
Also, the type of mud/fluids that we will be handling. There be completion fluids, water base mud, diesel based oil mud and synthetic oil base mud?….As you know, deep water drilling operations need enormous mud volume…..from technical, economic & environmental considerations….can we, in the business presentation, look at the following : total vol 50,000 bbl ; 70,000 bbl & 90,000 bbl Or scale-able ( in each case there are also 10,000 bbl base oil tank , 200 mt for Bentonite silos & 1000 mt P-Tank with a scale for barite). Open to advice on all of these.
Often, premix is made in the Liquid Mud Plant, and is then weighted up on the rig. Rig returns are often stripped of solids at the Liquid Mud Plant using shaker/ desilter / High Speed Centrifuge system….please see item 4 below.
