GN Solids Control has successfully delivered three complete GNMS-1000 mud recycling systems along with 40 high wear-resistant slurry pumps to a horizontal directional drilling (HDD) contractor. This large-scale shipment demonstrates GN’s strong capability in providing integrated mud treatment and slurry transfer solutions tailored specifically for trenchless construction projects.
HDD operations rely heavily on stable drilling fluid performance to ensure borehole stability, efficient cuttings removal, and continuous drilling progress. Recognizing these operational demands, GN supplied a comprehensive solution that not only focuses on solids separation, but also addresses mud storage, mixing, and reliable slurry transfer across the entire job site.

Each GNMS-1000 mud recycling system is designed as a fully integrated unit combining shale shakers, mud cleaners, mud tanks, centrifugal pumps, and mud agitators. This all-in-one configuration allows the system to perform multiple functions within a compact footprint. The shale shakers and cleaners efficiently remove sand and fine solids from the drilling fluid, helping maintain proper viscosity and density. At the same time, the mud tanks provide sufficient storage capacity to support continuous circulation, while agitators ensure uniform mixing and prevent solids settling.
The modular design of the GNMS-1000 system enables fast installation and easy relocation between job sites, which is especially valuable for HDD contractors working on multiple projects. The system is engineered to handle complex ground conditions and variable slurry properties commonly encountered in trenchless construction, ensuring stable performance even under demanding operating conditions.

In addition to the mud recycling systems, GN supplied 40 submersible slurry pumps to support slurry transfer from HDD pits and mud collection areas. These pumps are manufactured with high-chrome alloy casings and impellers, offering exceptional resistance to abrasion and erosion. Designed for heavy-duty operation, the pumps feature a robust structure and maintenance-free concept, reducing downtime and labor costs during long drilling campaigns.
The submersible slurry pumps play a critical role in maintaining uninterrupted drilling operations. By efficiently transferring drilling mud from pits to recycling systems or disposal points, they help prevent overflow, blockages, and unplanned shutdowns. Their durability and reliability make them especially suitable for harsh trenchless construction environments where abrasive solids and continuous operation are unavoidable.
By supplying both mud recycling systems and slurry pumps, GN provides a truly one-stop mud management solution for HDD projects. This integrated approach helps customers simplify equipment sourcing, improve system compatibility, and optimize overall project efficiency. Recovered drilling fluids can be reused, reducing water consumption and waste disposal volumes, which directly lowers operating costs and supports environmentally responsible construction practices.

This successful delivery once again reflects GN Solids Control’s commitment to supporting trenchless construction clients worldwide. From solids separation to slurry transportation, GN continues to deliver reliable, high-performance mud handling solutions that enhance productivity, reduce operational risks, and improve project profitability.
