GN Solids Control recently completed the commissioning of a high-standard 1000HP drilling rig mud tank system for a key domestic client in Yunnan Province, China. The project marks another successful deployment of GN’s advanced solids control solutions tailored for deep drilling operations.
The entire system is designed to support a 1000HP drilling rig with efficient, safe and continuous solids-liquid separation and fluid circulation, meeting the demands of complex geological formations.
Key Components of the System:
4 Mud Tanks
Designed to accommodate various drilling fluids processes such as active mud, reserve, mixing, and intermediate storage, the mud tanks provide a solid and corrosion-resistant structure for field operations.
3*GNZS594K Shale Shakers
These high-performance linear motion shale shakers are configured in parallel to handle large volumes of drilling fluids. Equipped with GN’s patented shaker screen technology, they offer excellent cuttings removal efficiency, longer screen life, and easy maintenance.
1 × GNZCQ270 Vacuum Degasser
Designed to remove entrained gas from drilling mud, the vacuum degasser ensures the density and stability of the fluid are maintained, preventing potential well control issues.
1 × GNZJ752K-2S Desander & 1 × GNZJ752K-12N Desilter
These dual-stage hydrocyclone units are integrated with mini shale shakers underneath. The desander (10” cones) and desilter (4” cones) remove fine solids down to 20–25 microns, improving downstream equipment performance and extending drilling fluid life.
1 × GNLW452D Decanter Centrifuge
As a medium-speed centrifuge, this model efficiently separates fine solids and recovers barite. It is a critical component for maintaining fluid properties and optimizing the overall mud program.
Supporting Equipment
The system includes agitators, centrifugal sand pumps, mixing hoppers, and a centralized control system, ensuring smooth mixing, circulation, and automation across the tanks. All electrical components are explosion-proof to meet on-site safety regulations.
On-Site Commissioning & Support
GN’s technical service team was deployed to Yunnan for on-site commissioning and training. The system was tested and verified for performance, fluid handling capacity, and process integration, achieving full operational readiness with high customer satisfaction.
